Solar Tracker Split Bearing
The split bearing holds the spur gear shaft in place while allowing it to rotate freely. Note that you can place two of these on top of each other for added strength (you will need to file down more length on the shaft to accomodate the second split bearing). To make the slit bearing first drill a 1/4" hole in a flat piece of ABS plastic then trim around the hole to make a 25mm square. Next simply cut the square in half through the center of the hole. Making sure the shaft is perfectly vertical cement the split bearing into place as shown. Let the cement dry and then check the rotation of the shaft by driving the motor in both directions. The shaft should rotoat perfectly on its axis and have no noticable wobble.
