Sun Sensor Array

Cut a 10mm slice of 1.25" (32mm) ABS pipe. Drill eight holes in the sensor ring spaced as shown in the diagram below. Use a 3/16" drill bit to make the holes. Also drill a smaller hole on the back side of the sensor ring for the wires which will connect the LEDs. Insert all the LEDs as shown making sure they are all oriented in the same polarity. Solder each set of LEDs as shown using bare copper wire, insert the two lead wires and connect on to the west LEDs and the other to the East leads making note of the positive and negative leads for each set of LEDs. Cut a 50mm dia. disc from flat ABS using a hole saw and enlarge the center hole to fit the 3/8 drive shaft. Also cut a shadow vane 50mm x 15mm and a brace for the shadow vane then assemble and cement the pieces together as shown below.
